Elder discrimination and exploitation

The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse may hold hearings to investigate cases of:

  • discrimination or harassment oof older persons on any of the grounds prohibited by the Québec Charter of Rights and Freedoms;

  • exploitation of older or disabled persons.


If you wish to file a complaint, you will first be informed of your rights. Following that, if the Commission does not have jurisdiction over your case, you will be informed of other possible remedies
  • if the Commission has jurisdiction over your case, you will be informed of other possible remedies. If the Commission has jurisdiction over your case, you will be able to file a formal complaint.

    What to do
    Contact your local office of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse by phone, in writing, by e-mail or in person. If your complaint is admissible, you will be given a complaint form to complete.
