Cancelling a lease

If you wish to resiliate (cancel, terminate) your lease, you must meet one of the following conditions:
- Low-rental housing is made available to you
- You are a senior and have been permanently admitted to a residential and
long-term care centre (CHSLD) or foster home
- You have a disability that makes it impossible for you to continue living in the dwelling
- You are the victim of spousal violence or sexual aggression
- The Court has ruled that the landlord was not meeting his or her obligations and that you, the tenant, suffered damage as a result.
Certain other circumstances will not be accepted as grounds for cancelling a lease, including the purchase of a house, a divorce, or a move to take up employment.
