Power of attorney

Responsibility : Ministère de la Justice

You can appoint, in writing or verbally, a person (mandatary) to represent you and act on your behalf to settle certain legal matters with a third party.

A power of attorney may be either special or general. A special power of attorney allows your mandatary to represent you in one specific matter, such as the sale of your car. A general power of attorney allows your mandatary to see to all your affairs.

Note
It is important not to confuse a power of attorney (also known as a "mandate") with an incapacity mandate.
