The Government of Canada pays the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) to eligible low-income seniors aged 65 or over. It is added to their Old Age Security Pension payments.
To apply
You must submit an application for the GIS. For a copy of the Guaranteed Income Supplement Application Form, call 1 800 277-9914 toll free, visit a Service Canada centre in your area, or download a copy from the Service Canada Website.
