If your spouse is deceased and had contributed to the Canada Pension Plan for:
at least one third of the period for which he or she should have contributed, and for at least 3 years,
or
at least 10 years,
you could receive death benefits and a survivor's pension. If you have eligible dependent children, you may also be granted a children's benefit.
